Hampton Court

December 4, 2023

Woke up and showered. We left at 8:30 AM and headed to Pret for breakfast. Then to the tube to head to Hampton Court Palace. We got off the wrong stop and asked the attendant. Back into the tube to the next stop, then to the South Western Railway. Gwyn got a ticket since we I tried setting up Oyster on her phone, but I had already set up the app with the BofA card on my phone app. We asked an attendant and found out that we needed to go to Gate 20-24 to get our train, and then get off at Clapham Junction and get a bus to Hampton Court. Track 20 had our train so in we went. Got off at Clapham and found the bus that would next take us along our journey. A family had a toddler in a stroller who after crabbing for a while finally fell asleep. We got off at Hampton Court and walked a few minutes to the palace. ApproachingA really nice castle. Waited a bit in line. A family was having a hard time with their kid. Into the courtyard where many tents were setup. We got a latte and hot chocolate. After walking a bit and looking, headed farther into the castle. DogsLooked like Holyrood Palace with a square courtyard. There was a setup where it looked like dogs running around a track.

FairOut back the grounds were beautiful with many more tents setup. And Lexus cars since they were a sponsor. HorsesWe took a horse drawn carriage ride which was nice. We found food: pasta for me which you could have delivered to your home as the guys were signing people up in line; Gwyn had a salad with chicken from another vendor. We sat at a table, listening to the live Christmas singing. We wandered and enjoyed the tents and the grounds. We toured the castle and saw many paintings. I went into the King Henry apartments which were huge. The hall was grand, and the tapestry was gorgeous from the 1500s. After we left we thought about going to another festival nearby, but the busses we running slow, and Gwyn's back wad bothering her, so we decided to head back to our hotel. A bus to Richmond. While waiting for that bus, a lady found a baby's show on the sidewalk and placed it in the fence. A short while later a family came by looking, and we pointed out the shoe which was theirs.

In Richmond we found a Sainnsbury Local and got some Ibuprofen. Onto the tube. Track 7 and on we went. We got off at Aldgate East and headed to the Pret. It was closed, but the Costa Coffe was not. Got supper and headed back. We ate and stayed up until 9:00 PM.
